Trail Ride Training: Riding (and grazing)- February

February 6th, 2021-

We went out on this trail to let Ashkar and Rockstar graze on the new grass a little bit. Although this trail wasn't used for any training, it was a little trail nonetheless. We let them have a couple minutes to eat the grass and then we headed back. Unfortunately, this caused a slight problem for Ashkar because the next trail ride she wanted to eat the grass and was throwing a fit because I wouldn't let her. They both did great walking on the trail though.

I went on a quick trail ride with Abigail, she walked Rockstar. Ashkar did a really good of job getting past all of the scary things around the wash, where we are in the picture, but once we got into the open part of the trail she started having a few problems. Since I brought her to eat the grass the other day, she was set on eating the grass and was throwing a fit because I wouldn't let her. She was very calm other than that and she was feeling more comfortable going out. She also did much better adjusting to the different situations when we go out; either alone, with Rockstar, or our barn friends, etc...

Ashkar and I went on this trail ride with Abigail and Rockstar, hand walking, and Brinley and Dreamer. This trail went really well for all of us. Ashkar had a few problems but nothing major. Since Dreamer and Ashkar are both mares, too, they didn't really like each other and I kept my distance so there weren't any problems. Brinley did a great job and it was also fun to go on a trail with her. Dreamer and her did great. Rockstar also did great. We went to the bus stop and back. It was an easy trail ride and was fun to have a friend with us. Ashkar really showed how much she had grown with trail riding through this trail.

Ashkar and I went out on a trail ride with Abigail riding Rockstar. We went the way with the ranch across the field, the way that is a little scarier for her. Both of them did really well though. They were a little antsy when we got closer to the ranch but they got past it without any big complications. Both Abigail and I were able to ride the whole time and not have to jump off. This was an easy and fun trail for all of us, even with them being a little nervous. Ashkar seemed to feel more comfortable going this way with Rockstar there. They both did great and especially for the situation. Very proud of both of them.
