We purchased Rockstar on July 3rd 2018. We had the same trainer for 3 years and later realized that her training methods were not the best fit for him. We started training with Jan soon after we left our old trainer and both Rockstar and I had to change our methods, and due to him injuring himself, we could not start riding as soon as Sarah and Ashkar did. This also effected the project with trail riding him.
Rockstar, in the beginning of this project, did not go on as many trails as Ashkar either and if he did, I hand lead him. When I hand lead him out on trail he really enjoyed it, and would get excited when he saw we were going on a trail, although all of his excitement would sometimes make him pushy and a little antsy. He is a very adventurous horse, and while that is a great trait for trail riding, it can also have its downsides. He only came out on trails sometimes, when he was having a good day, and he was slowly brought out more and more. This was similar to what Sarah did with Ashkar but we did it even slower with Rockstar and made sure not to push him too far. He did have a relatively good base to start teaching him trail riding though. There was still lots to learn but he had a great attitude throughout it all.
